GNOM

GNOM is a remote control underwater videocamera developed to operate in narrow inacessible underwater environments. Even smaller than a football, it is appropriated to inspect the interior of sunken ships, pipelines, caves and similar areas. One of many applications is working in co-operation whit other submarine vehicles such as manned submarines. GNOM offers an extremely good manoeuvrability with 6 degrees of freedom and can easily turn on the spot. |
| The maximum operating depth of GNOM is 100 m.
GNOM is equipped whit a zoom video camera, with pan/tilt and 20 LEDs which provide enought light for a visibility of up to 2-3 m distance in clear water at night. It is operated from a console whit a joystick or a computer
keyboard. All video and control signals are transmitted in combination with th power supply via a special 2 mm thin coaxial
cable. Two thrusters guarantee a propulsion of up to 1 m/s forward in horizontal dirction. Two vertical thrusters ensure the steering up and down attaining a speed of approx. 0,5 m/s. |

| The system includes a transport case which contains besides the ROV and the
cable, a power supply with rechargeable battery, a LCD monitor and a joystick. This case is small enough to be used for quick operations and to be taken as cabin luggage on every flight.. |
